Love’s got me feelin’ like a caged bird:
The outside sounds are far away,
Scarcely heard, and the light of day
Taunts me from the bay window – O
No true warmth I know.
But despite all the desires diminished
And all the frivolous fancies finished,
Like e’ery bird doomed to the cut wing,
No matter what heartache’ll bring,
Still, STILL I’ll sing.
And when I’m no longer sunk,
deaf from my funk,
I’ll hearken to the rest
Of humanity’s song
and realize
They were singin’ w/ me all along.
